Mitchell Middle School Miners Wrestling Team recently won its second consecutive Team NC Junior High State Championship Team Title.
The Miners placed 12 wrestlers en route to the championship.
They were:
• Sixth grade — Liam Biddix (first), R.J. Watson (first), Jayko Erwins (fourth), and R.J. Wences (fourth)
• Seventh grade — Rebecca Smith (second), Lawson Ayers (third), Julien Reed (third), Cullen Sparks (third), Oscar Burleson (fourth) and Madon Davis (fourth)
• Eighth grade — Kylie Geouge (second), David Arvizu (third)
Mitchell High School girls also took part in the event and came away with two champions (Katie Stowe and Jayceemae Erwin) as well as two second place finishes (Payton Buchanan and Sophie Robertson).
