MARION - Wade Buchanan, 73, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 4, 1940 in Mitchell County, to the late Sam and Ruth Pittman Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Buchanan. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine, and retired from Marion TV after 25 years. He loved to fish and listen to country music. He was passionate about Colts football!

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Bradburn Buchanan of the home; a sister, Mary Ruth Algers and husband, Sullivan of West Virginia; one brother-in-law, David Bradburn and wife, Jessie of Nebo; one sister-in- law, Kathy Bradburn of Marion; a special niece, Andrea Turbyfill; and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, with Rev. Doug Prevette officiating. Burial followed in Cross Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752. The family would like to say “Thank You” to Hospice of McDowell County for the love, support and special care shown to Wade and his family.
