TRAVELERS REST, S.C. - Nathan Byrd, age 86, of the Beans Creek Community, Bakersville, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the home of his daughter, Betty Clark in Travelers Rest, SC. He was the son of the late Lace and Sally Garland Byrd. Nath was a timber cutter, a member of the Beans Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a former member of the Johnson City Elk Lodge #825. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Byrd, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Survivors include his daughter, Betty Clark and husband Carl of Travelers Rest, SC; son, Terry Lee Byrd and wife Jane of Bakersville; sister, Ruth Hughes of Glen Rock, Pa.; grandchildren: Sally Garza, Wayne Clark, Mike Clark, Greg Clark, Rebecca Hughes and Michelle Byrd; great grandchildren: Katie, Emily, Brandon, Stephanie, Logan, Lane, Winter, Conaton, Landon and Haven; one great-great grandchild, Ezekiel Terry Byrd.

Funeral Services were held at 12:30 pm Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with John L Stockton and JC Sheets officiating. Burial followed in the Beans Creek Cemetery. The family received friends from 11:00 am until the service hour.

Henline-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the Byrd Family.
