SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Helen Parsley McGee, age 87, of Spruce Pine, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Brian Center Health and Rehab in Spruce Pine.

Born in Mitchell County on November 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Bonnie Bolick Parsley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred McGee. Also preceding her in death were her brothers; Fred and Bill Parsley and her sister; Dot McEntire.

Helen was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Morganton, NC. She was known as a quick-witted person that was funny, talkative, and had a vigorous zeal for life. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, pottery, and being with her beloved pets. She loved books and spent many hours reading.

Left to cherish her memories are her son; David H. McGee and wife, Wanda of Lynchburg, VA; her sisters; Mary Carswell of Morganton and Shirley McKinney of Spruce Pine; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Brian Center Health and Rebab for their wonderful care of Helen.

Due to the COVI-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be planned and announced at a later date.
