Graduation may be several years away for members of the Class of 2027, but future high-schoolers from Bowman and Harris Middle both got a close look at their future through a recent tour of Mitchell High School.

As part of homecoming, Mitchell High opens its doors to eighth-graders in the community for a tour of the campus and a look at classes. It’s the first time since 2019 that the students have been allowed in for the tour due to COVID.

Mitchell administrators, counselors and instructors greeted the students when they arrived. Senior student council representatives were also on hand for a question-and-answer session about life in high school.

The student council representatives then led the future Mountaineers on a tour of the school, including a live look at 10 classes in session.

Students learned about courses, clubs and programs offered at Mitchell.

The visit closed with a final question-and-answer period and some students received prizes donated by MHS programs.

Before leaving campus, the students posed for a group photo on the football bleachers by arranging themselves in a “27” formation to mark their future graduation year.
