BAKESRVILLE —  Marian Greenlee McNeill, age 97, of Bakersville, NC, passed away on November 2, 2022 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC.

She was born on May 24, 1925 in Spruce Pine to the late Landon and Mable Queen Greenlee.  In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Scott B. McNeill; brothers, Ed Greenlee and wife, Janie and Bob Greenlee and wife, Pat; brothers-in-law John Dale and Clark Cox; and grandson-in-law, Stoney Patterson.

Marian was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church in Bakersville.  She was a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and was a member of the refreshment committee.

Throughout her working career she had been employed by Ellen’s Knitting Mill, Minpro Supply, was a co-owner of Barbara’s Dress Shop, caregiver for elderly family members and she was also a homemaker.

Marian enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly around the table.  She was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed catching up on the latest news at family gatherings.

She also treasured time spent with her siblings.  She was a farmer’s wife and loved tending to her vegetable garden and working in her flower beds.  She also loved her church and church family and was active for sixty-nine years.  Although she couldn’t sing, she knew the words to every song.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Marian McNeill on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s David Hawes, Don Ford, and Jason McKinney officiating.  A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Webb Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Susie Carpenter and husband, Steve; her granddaughters; Vanessa Hawes and husband, Dave and Elizabeth Patterson; sisters Jean Dale and Alice Cox; her nieces and nephews, and her Church family.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to either; White Oak Baptist Church or Gideons – Mitchell County Camp, P.O. Box 611, Spruce Pine, NC  28777   www.gideons.org

The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to Annette Huskins who took care of Marian in the home, the C.N.A’s, and the Greens of Spruce Pine who also cared for Marian.
